Mary E. Augur Dudley Papers, 1858-1940 (1858-1895).

Dudley, Mary Eliza Augur, 1852-1924; Teacher and housewife. Attended Mount Holyoke Female Seminary, 1869-1871. Papers contain letters to her from relatives and friends, a brief diary compiled by her in 1858, essays that she wrote while at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary, poems by her sister, Lucy Augur Dudley, memorabilia, and photographs of Dudley and Augur family members. Papers chiefly consist of letters documenting life on the family farm in Middlefield Connecticut and the activities of family members. Includes letters by George Augur, a student at Union College (Schenectady, N.Y.), Charles Augur, a student at Massachusetts Agricultural College (Amherst, Mass.), and Susan E. Anderson, a Mount Holyoke Female Seminary graduate who describes visits to the school and her experiences while living in Nebraska in 1879-1880.
